Activities by Ohno Laboratory (WIDE Project) for FaxConnect 1

In WIDE Project, more than 500 researchers are working on many theme
related with computer or computer network. WIDE Telecommunication Working
Group (wt-wg), one of working groups in WIDE Project, acts to realize
fusion of the Internet and other telecommunication media.

Ohno laboratory in Tokyo Institute of Technology has been doing researches
on the Internet, especially network management and fusion of various
media and the Internet. Its achievments are newly developed OS, telephone
system on the Internet and many more. Ohno laboratory often collaborates
with WIDE Project.

Ohno laboratory and WIDE Project participated in FaxConnect 1 as a free
implementation producer. The WIDE Internet FAX runs on a PICKLES information
kiosk developed by Ohno laboratory. PICKLES System initially includes
WIDE/PhoneShell which has been developed by WIDE Project. WIDE/PhoneShell
provides interfaces between telephone and the Internet.

At FaxConnect 1, Ohno laboratory tested interconnections between the WIDE
Internet FAX and other implementations, and introduced the implementation
of the very small Internet FAX.
